Projects: Secure Remote Access / Citrix Consulting Services

Abbot Laboratories needed to provide secure access to internal applications for its vendors. Abbot selected IntelliSuite for this project.

IntelliSuite designed Business Partner Extranet application portal to facilitate access to Abbott’s applications for its worldwide business partners. The application server farm is based on Citrix MetaFrame XPe 1.0 and it is placed in Abbott’s Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) for security reasons.

IntelliSuite assisted with the integration of Citrix MetaFrame for UNIX (using SUN Solaris Operating System) to facilitate multi-user access for Abbott’s UNIX administrators.

IntelliSuite designed a method to allow internal Abbott employees to access external Citrix resources of its business partners without violating Abbott’s security policies. This method involved the use of SOCKS 5 proxy with authentication and provided restrictive policies to guarantee that only allowed Citrix ICA protocol is able to traverse the socks proxy server.
