The seven physicians at Drs Borders and Associates and their forty employees desired to improve patient care by implementing Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. The doctors also wished to secure access to patient records and comply with HIPAA requirements while providing authorized physician access to medical records regardless of location.

IntelliSuite implemented Microsoft Windows 2000 Active Directory for employee and physician authentication. To provide remote access to patient medical records and other business applications, IntelliSuite deployed AllScripts Impact MD EMR System on Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server. IntelliSuite web-enabled the applications with Citrix Web Interface and secured the implementation with SonicWall Firewall and Citrix Secure Gateway Services.

To secure patient records from unauthorized views as physicians move from room to room, IntelliSuite implemented Logico Smart Cards. Authorized employees and physicians can now review patient records by swiping their Logico smart cards at terminals in patient rooms. This process automatically signs authorized personnel into the system, remembering their last location in the system. When a doctor leaves the room and retrieves the smart card, the system automatically saves the current view and logs the computer off to secure it from unauthorized view.

IntelliSuite provides on-going Help Desk support to employees and physicians. To assure smooth operations of the IT infrastructure, IntelliSuite implemented a managed IT services platform to proactively monitor and report on critical systems. This system allows IntelliSuite to resolve issues before they interrupt business.
